An announcement on Wednesday May 20th from Air Berlin stated that the airline will be begin flights from Germany to Israel on July 7th. The 2nd largest airline in Germany after Lufthansa will run two direct flights from Berlin to Tel Aviv.

Pilots stopped working for 2 and a half hours today in order to protest against Air Berlins recent budget cuts. The pilots working for DBA and LTU (Air Berlin Plc’s) were responsible for four flights being cancelled as well as ten delayed flights.

Passenger power ruled the day as Air Berlin were forced to provide an alternative plane after customers drafted a petition on Sunday Sept 14th.
After two unsuccessful lift off attempts, Passengers demanded that a different plane be supplied. Over 170 passengers were on board the flight from Nuremburg to Faro.
