A recent survey by the UK car hire company Car Rentals (.co.uk) has shown many drivers to be concerned over the increased usage of ipod videos while driving. The survey showed that one in three people had observed drivers watching some form of video while driving.

Another alarming statistic from the survey showed that twenty percent of those polled claimed to know of an accident caused because of the driver watching a video.

Speaking on behalf of the company, Mr. G Robinson spoke of normal concerns such as drinking a hot beverage while driving now being replaced by a much more serious threat in the shape of mobile video. He called on the appropriate authorities to do more to educate drivers in this matter. He went on to highlight startling incidents of ipods being taped to steering wheels.

This is an important safety issue which must be heeded by drivers. This alarming report has certainly highlighted a worrying trend.
