Two Woodstock concerts are due to take place next August. The first in New York on either August 15th or 16th but more importantly for readers of this blog the 2nd concert takes place in Berlin on August 22nd.

The concert will take place in the historic Tempelhof Airport which ceased handling flights last year. Entry will be free of charge. The events will mark the 40th anniversary of the original Woodstock event. Woodstock organiser Michael Lang is hoping to add some of the original performers from 40 years ago to the bill. Possibilities include the Grateful Dead, Joe Cocker, The Who, Country Joe and Santana.

The Who did not participate in previous Woodstock shows in 1994 and 1999 however Pete Townshend was at the 29th Anniversary in New York. Townshend still looks back on the original event with great joy declaring it “the most important single concert that we ever did”. More information will be available from Woodstock.com in the coming months.
